| Here, I'm "fireguarding" number 2 engine, which is ready for start up. Note the J-85 jet engine pod. The C-123K models, had two R-2800 engines and two J-85 jet engines, which were used for assault take-offs and landings. Interestingly, the J-85 (with an afterburner) is the same engine used in the T-38A Talon Advanced Trainer, which every Air Force pilot of this era flew. |
