| Whether or not one was issued a parachute, this was one part of the training in which everyone paid close attention. Killing yourself while being picked up by a helicopter would not have been a satisfactory way to end the day. Note that although all facets of a recovery operation were performed in this training, the aircraft is close enough to the ground that falling would have only broken some bones at worst. Carried out under these controlled circumstances, it was actually a lot of fun. |
