Good Morning Vietnam! The start of another day. The Caribou operation
was nominally day VFR (Visual Flight Rules) which, of course, meant that we were scheduled
to start our first sortie at official sunrise. I say "nominally" because many
days we staggered back well after dark and if the destination airport could support
instrument operations, we went IFR. Flying in Vietnam was not the safest of operations and
that was not due to enemy action. I talk about this in more detail on the main page. This
photo was taken on the Caribou ramp on the east side of Cam Ranh Bay AFB. |
