Caribous in Vietnam

Caribou Pilot's Panel
This is the pilot's panel in a Caribou. Although the minimum ground clearance for safety from small arms fire was 3,000', I routinely flew at either 9,000' or 10,000' to gain additional safety and because the terrain in the Central Highlands reached altitudes over 8,000'. In this picture, the old-style three hand altimeter shows an altitude of 9,900'. Judging from the airspeed indicator (top left) at just under 120 knots, we must have had "go home" power set.
