| Air America was not just the name of a movie starring Mel Gibson.
There really was an Air America reputedly operated by the CIA. They were omnipresent in
Vietnam and flew many different aircraft types. This picture is of a civilian model
DeHavilland Caribou (very similar to the Air Force C-7A, but missing the C-7's weather
radar). Notice the civilian U.S. registration number on the tail and the total lack of any
attempt at camouflage. You can also see one of its military cousins in the background. |
